The Scottish Rite is one of the appendant bodies of Freemasonry that a Master Mason may join for further exposure to the principles of Freemasonry.
In the United States the Scottish Rite is officially recognized by Grand Lodges as an extension of the degrees of Freemasonry. The Scottish Rite builds upon the ethical teachings and philosophy offered in the craft lodge, or blue lodge, through dramatic presentation of the individual degrees.
It is the mission of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, SJ, to improve its members and enhance the communities in which they live by teaching and emulating the principles of Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity, and Truth while actively embracing high social, moral, and spiritual vales including fellowship, compassion, and dedication to God, family and country.
The Etowah County Scottish Rite Club provides fellowship and support for Scottish Rite Masons and their families who are members of the Valley of Birmingham. We gather to promote social relations, engage in social and community activities, and promote charitable causes. We support the community by providing assistance with the Alabama Masonic Child ID Program, local Student Leadership Programs, and Adult mentorship programs. We help raise money for the Scottish Rite Charities which benefit Children with Dyslexia and the Shoe Fund for children. The first ever meeting of the Etowah County Scottish Rite Club was held on January 25th, 2023.
